The admission to Ph.D program is through Ph.D Entrace test and candidates who have qualified NET(UGC), GATE, GPAT, SLET examination are exempted from the Entrance test.
Syllabus for Entrance Test
Syllabus for Ph.D. entrance test will be based on syllabus content defined by University Grants Commission for NET (UGC). Subjects (Engineering) for which UGC do not conduct the NET, GATE/GPAT syllabus will be followed.
Validity of the Entrance Test Score
The validity of the Ph.D entrance test score is one year.
Number of seats
Number of seats in each discipline is notified annually on the PTU website and the entrance test is conducted for the notified seats in the month of June/July. The numbers of candidates who will be called for interview will double the number of seats available for admission.
The inter-se merit of candidates declared eligible for interview will be made on the basis of merit calculated as per the following criteria:
Weightage to marks in Master‘s/M. Phil programme : 40%
Weightage to marks in entrance test : 40%
Weightage to interview: 20%
The merit list of the candidate belonging to Scheduled caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/Physically handicapped(PH)/Visually Handicapped(VH) ( as per state reservation policy) shall be prepared separately. The qualifying marks for reserved categories shall be 35% in entrance test.
